CLIMATE CHANGE LAW COURSE

Objective:  The course is intended to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge to enable them to credibly engage with clients in the field, and rapidly focus on specific areas of the law.
 
Target Audience:  Solicitors and other professionals wishing to obtain an introduction to or update of the legislative structure of Climate Change Law. 
 
Course Content: Five main topics are addressed:-
  • Government policy (with reference to Kyoto, EU and other international commitments)
  • Legislation (including Climate Change Act, Energy Acts, Fiscal measures [taxes, incentives, carbon trading)], other enabling legislation (including Planning, Marine, Building regulations)
  • Principles of Environmental Laws and Regulations
  • Liability / remedies
  • Basic technology issues which impact legislation and / or likely to be deployed by or business of clients (micro-generation, renewables, intermittents, carbon capture, biofuels)
